Where do you currently live...
...in the Houston area?
Why did you choose the house/area that you currently live in?
Do you like your community? What are the major selling points of your community?
Did you like your builder (if that applies)?
Any regrets? Pros/cons to where you live?
If you moved from out-of-state, what has been the biggest adjustment for you/your family (other than the summer heat)?
Thanks for indulging this research-nut.

I'll indulge you..
Where do you currently live... Fall Creek in Humble
Why did you choose the house/area that you currently live in? Great proximity to downtown, family friendly, good schools and we fell in love with our house
Do you like your community? What are the major selling points of your community? Yes, I like it. The biggest selling point is that it's the closest masterplanned community to downtown. There are a lot of trees, great for families. Good schools, not congested, great golf course and home to the Shell Houston Open. This is not a great place for singles.
Did you like your builder (if that applies)? Trendmaker is great... I've heard good things about most of the builders here.
Any regrets? Pros/cons to where you live? There was a time when I regreted it. There were some break-ins, and I was freaked. But they caught the guys red handed with no issues since.
If you moved from out-of-state, what has been the biggest adjustment for you/your family (other than the summer heat)? hmm... propery taxes, electricity, and a couple of other things.
Thanks for indulging this research-nut.

...in the Houston area? Inside 610 near Braeswood and Stella Link
why did you choose the house/area that you currently live in? We spent a lot of time looking in the Heights/Timbergrove area with no luck. We took a Sunday drive and found the neighborhood and house almost by accident. We liked the large lot with big trees, easy access to the freeways and short commute to downtown. We also loved the layout of the house and the kind/size/quality of house we got for the money.
Do you like your community? What are the major selling points of your community? It's a great neighborhood with a variety of people and ages. It's quiet and people are friendly. I love that at almost any time of day you can see people out running or walking their dogs. We also have a security patrol and a police station nearby which is reassuring.
Did you like your builder (if that applies)? N/A
Any regrets? Pros/cons to where you live? No regrets! The only thing I don't like is that the sidewalks are old and not even. They need to be replaced. I wish there was nightlife and shopping that I could walk to although there is plenty just a short drive away.
If you moved from out-of-state, what has been the biggest adjustment for you/your family (other than the summer heat)? Since I can't say the heat and humidity.......it has probably been the traffic and sprawl of the city. Nothing big.

Why did you choose the area that you currently live in? Proximity to an organic grocery store (and a particular fondness for Whole Foods) and Lifetime Fitness, excellent elementary and middle school, strict zoning, affordable prices, not too far from the Museum District and other Inner Loop areas, not in a mandatory evacuation zone, on the side of Houston metro closer to Austin.
Do you like your community? What are the major selling points of your community? Low crime, friendly people, lots of families with children, trees, parks, walking trails, nice community club and pools.
Did you like your builder (if that applies)? N/A (we are renting until we recover from the last time we bought and sold a house)
Any regrets? Pros/cons to where you live? Sometimes I wonder if we should have moved to First Colony because I go there every day but when we were looking for a rental house, there weren't any choices.
If you moved from out-of-state, what has been the biggest adjustment for you/your family (other than the summer heat)? Driving with the insane people on Houston highways.
Thanks for indulging this research-nut.

...in the Houston area? Eastwood
Why did you choose the house/area that you currently live in? Good stock of classic 20's and 30's homes. We fell in love with a nearly original 30's tudor that up to now has taken nearly all of our free time to bring it up to standard.
Do you like your community? What are the major selling points of your community? Proximity to downtown and other parts of the inner loop; diversity; lots of cool project houses; other neighbors who love old houses as much as we do
Did you like your builder (if that applies)? we would love to know who built our house, LOL
Any regrets? Pros/cons to where you live? Pro: It's so central, yet so affordable, and there is amazing pride of ownership amongst all of the "old house people." Crazy that we can live 5 minutes (tops) down Leeland from downtown, in a way cool house, and pay so little. Only in Houston, LOL. Con: Sometimes I do go into "suburban" mode and get upset that not every house is well-maintained (some not maintained at all) and not all of my neighbors care about their houses as much as I care about mine (I definitely wish the deed restrictions were stronger). Typical inner city stuff.
If you moved from out-of-state, what has been the biggest adjustment for you/your family (other than the summer heat)?
Thanks for indulging this research-nut.

...in the Hou
Currently Briargrove. Two months, Memorial outsidethe Beltway.
ston area?
Why did you choose the house/area that you currently live in?
Briargrove-Close to parental units and friends. Less that 1/2 mile to the office. Emersion into City Life.
Western Memorial-Close to siblings and friends. Within 1 mile of the new offices. Green, big lots, space between houses, and HUGE old oak trees. A mile to T&C/City Center and access to Terry Hershy Park. 10 minute to The Galleria via the Westpark.
Do you like your community? What are the major selling points of your community?
Briargrove- LOVE IT! Big old trees. Small town feel. Pride of ownership. Respect of neighbors. Right in Uptown yet a family area. Only 20 minutes to downtown via Memorial/Allen Prkwy, same to the EC. Charming, older ranch homes that have been tweaked out. I could sell it in a week for major appreciation.
Western Memorial- Gonna Love it. Big green trees. Age range mix from 30-85+. Bigger lots. Mayberry feel with uber privacy. (No cul-de-sac cronies) Proximity to the EC, 30 minutes to Downtown at the edge of rush hour. Larger charming older homes that have been tweaked out. Quiet, all you can hear are the birds and the trees blowing in the wind. I could sell it in a few weeks with better than moderate appreciation.
Did you like your builder (if that applies)?
Don't know who the builders were. But they built solid house, with time enduring charm, and with concrete quality wood that breaks drill bits.
Any regrets? Pros/cons to where you live?
No regrets. Too many pros to list. I'm a very lucky person
Briargrove Cons- The lots are too small for the new construction they build. Most people have moved out by the time they're 38 into Memorial for the schools and bigger spaces.
Western Memorial-They're starting to plow the big houses (3500-5000 sf) to make way for even bigger houses(5000-8500 sf). I hate living around build site.

Why did you choose the house/area that you currently live in?
We currently live in SeaBrook. We chose our lot because we wanted to be on the water.
Do you like your community? What are the major selling points of your community? We do like our community. It has a very laid back atmosphere. I call it a "flip-flop" community. Beachy!
Did you like your builder (if that applies)? MasterPiece Builders were wonderful to work with. Never let us down once!
Any regrets? Pros/cons to where you live? I have no regrets at all. I imagine, once in awhile, DH does, since he travels into Downtown everyday. Although, he does enjoy driving...just not in traffic! But, he is the first to admit...when he walks out into our backyard and see the serene beauty of the water...the day just washes away!
If you moved from out-of-state, what has been the biggest adjustment for you/your family (other than the summer heat)? We moved from the Napa Valley in Ca. So, we miss the crisp mornings and evenings.

...in the Houston area?
First Colony, inside Hwy 6 on the border of Sugar Land and Missouri City.
Why did you choose the house/area that you currently live in?
Spouse's job was in Sugar Land, and at the time this was the only new construction in First Colony. Hwy 90 gave me good access to the Medical Center for my job.
Do you like your community? What are the major selling points of your community?
Yes! Zoning (building codes, no billboards, everything looks so nice), trees, parks, family-friendly, lots of shopping, love the Sugar Land Town Center.
But I think I'd put up with the lack of zoning in surrounding Houston if I could live somewhere like Bunker Hill Village (can't afford it!)
But really, it's nice when I see a big field out here with a for sale sign and don't have to worry about what might go there... trust Sugar Land / Missouri City to make sure it's cool (Stafford on the other hand, doesn't have as many regulations.)
Did you like your builder (if that applies)?
Yes, home seems well done.
Any regrets? Pros/cons to where you live?
If only I could pick up our community and move it closer to downtown Houston and to the beaches!
