I am looking to move to Houston next spring with my family. We are looking for a great master-planned community with great schools (elementary especially), safety, and homes in the price range of $200-$325,000. A reasonable commute (25-35 minutes) is ideal. We have already looked at Fall Creek and communitites in Pearland. Anywhere else we should be looking at? Thanks.

Default Homes

You might want to look at Friendswood which is a bit farther from downtown.I work downtown it takes me 30 minutes at 6:30 am.Master planned area would be Westranch at 518 and 528.They start at $ 310,000.Friendswood ISD is all exemplary public school system.

Default MO City/ Pearland access Downtown/Med Center

Missouri City, TX ; Sienna Plantation, Teal Run, Lake Olympia, Riverstone easy access to the Ft Bend Toll Road and Sam Houston Beltway, also easy access to 90 alt and 288 headed downtown and the medical center or move to Pearland only 15 minutes from Downtown on 288 and accessibel roads Almeda, Cullen, & Scott that lead you into pearland.

Teal Run has been hit hard by foreclosure activity and had lots of problems, and I don't think it's a master-planned community. The other three are nice though. I'd add First Colony to that.

The positive with the Teal Run foreclosures is that you should be able to get a pretty good deal for a house. The negative is that with a higher rate of foreclosing, your property won't be appreciating any time soon.

Another positive with Teal Run is that there's very little traffic, even on the Fort Bend Tollway.

Other negatives include the lack of quality retail within a couple of miles, even groceries. You literally have to go into the heart of Missouri City some six miles to the west or into Pearland some 8-10 miles to the east.
