Can anyone give me any info on this school? I can't find much info relating to scores since it is a new school. How does it compare to Kingwood HS. Would you send your kids here vs KHS?
Thanks!!

I don't know how much help I am, we just moved here in December. Two of my children finished their year out at Kingwood Park.

When we moved here we intended to rent first, then buy after living here a year to be sure it's where we want to live. The house we rent is in KPHS district, but most of the places we're looking to buy are in KHS. So, haven't spent a lot of energy looking in to whether KPHS is as good a school as all our research showed us KHS is. Plus, KPHS is very new, hasn't even had a graduating class yet.

KPHS is clean, big, brand new, full of new modern facilities. The staff that I have met, and I've met the principal, the nurses, the Special Ed. dept, and about a dozen teachers, are all bright, warm, caring concerned people.
I have received phone calls from two teachers alerting me that one of my sons was not completing his work, hadn't turned a project in. That was a personal call from two different teachers, that meant a lot to me.

The first day I was there trying to find the principal's office, the kid giving me directions called me "sir" and escorted me to the office.

My other child there is in Special Ed program and I can't say enough about her teachers. They are all very concerned people who contact us when they have an observation or question. It is nice to see teachers being involved in their students lives. I, for one, appreciate it a lot.

Neither of my children has ever told me they were harassed, or bothered for being new, or in Special Ed. They have both made friends very easily.

My experience there is short, just second half of this last school year, but I like what I see.
KHS is much bigger and due to its location, I think it is a wider range of economic backgrounds. Other than my research telling me it has received awards for its academic and athletic achievements, I have only really heard that it has "cliques" and "drugs". I am wondering where the Fantasyland High School is that does not have these things. Coming from Orange County, California, my kids had already been exposed to every drug known to man, as well as kids arriving at school in Ferrarri's, next to kids walking from their 800 sq. ft apartment where they live with 3 uncles, 5 brothers and sisters, plus grandma and grandpa.

So, in short, I give KPHS a big thumbs up.
Hope that helps you!

I've heard good things about Kingwood Park. My next door neighbor is the Hoops coach, and neighbor kids attend at KP. I've heard nothing but positives.

Kingwood has always had good schools. I'm sure this is no different.

Well so far I haven't heard anything negative either. A friend also told me parents had petitioned to have their kids go to KPHS from KHS. We're trying to make a decision on buying a house that the attendence zone is KPHS and KMS vs one that goes to KHS and Riverwood MS.
