bfhbonds: FORGET THAT NONSENSE! The Woodlands has ALL sorts of families including many just like yours. I have family there and they are pretty much as you describe yours. The Woodlands is a big place and y'all will fit in just fine.
(As for the term "redneck", most people don't know the true origin or meaning of the term. It's Scotch-Irish and dates back to about 1690. But that's another story.)

Because we will only know one other couple when we move there and that's on a business level. So I just thought I would ask some direct questions, I like a lot of what I've read here and the sense of humor. Now, just tell me where to move to find it!

If I knew as much about my neighbors as I do about the house's HVAC, flooding, roof, taxes, flooring, electrical wiring, etc... it might have made a significant difference in the house I chose!
Moving is like going through freshman year all over again... sifting through the cliques to find your crowd. And don't think that there aren't cheerleaders still out there... lol... GOOD LUCK!!!

It didn't get it's "Stepford Wife" rep for nothing........
"FORGET THAT NONSENSE! The Woodlands has ALL sorts of families including many just like yours. I have family there and they are pretty much as you describe yours. The Woodlands is a big place and y'all will fit in just fine."I agree that there are all types of people in the Woodlands--and you will find your own...........there's a lid for every pot, as they say........I lived there for over 7 yrs. (I didn't just come up and visit family there--and I was very involved with various women's clubs in the area) so I have some experince with the locals--so to speakThere's pro's and con's to any area---and if you state something that doesn't suggest a certain area is Shangri-La there are always those who will jump in and defend there beloved hometown ( nothing wrong with that....LOL!!)But what one needs to understand is that all areas have a unique personality--and as with any personality, it has it's flaws... ( some of which---depending on how you look at things can be seen as ;quite funny really......)So, I would move there........but I would just think about this( my comment below) when you meet somebody who acts alittle too uppity for your tastes........( and it seems like you have a good sense of humor,BTHBonds)Just remember....they don't call it the land of the Hundred Thousand Dollar Millionaire for nothing.......( meaning that you have many folks making around that income there--average income in the Woodlands it right around 117K, or so, and there are those folks who choose to act like they make that forementioned million, or more....)When you meet folks like that---you just have to think it's funny......and it is!!!! So enjoy their keen sense of High Drama(LOL!!!!)

The Woodlands is a big place.
There may be some that act uppity there but there are just as many that don't. You'll get that everywhere in Houston. I suggest you and your family move to The Woodlands. With your kind there, the more the merrier.

The woodlands has Great Schools! you do not have to waste money on their private schools. Their public schools are just as good. Now the religious. Yes there will be people trying to talk you into joining their church and your kids will be preached to by other kids but we got over it. Most of their churches only care about money instead of god. And people are big supporters of their political party. When Bush was running for his last term, A (obbiously) Republican parent told their kids to tell the other kids that Al Gore said he is going to make kids go to school 7 days a week. That Rumor passed from school to school and democratic parents were getting pissed at the schools.
If you watch Desperate House Wives, The Woodlands is somewhat similar to that show.

If you are are laid back then try Sugarland or Conroe. I have some friends in the Woodlands it is a nice place but they are into everything when it comes to their kids.

I have also been looking in Conroe. And we are more laid back and I never did like the cheerleaders!! No offense. Hope everyone is doing ok after the 'cane. Don't even get me started on the politics. It's amazing the rumors that fly without even an inkling of truth...Anyway, we are starting to get our house ready, so here goes. My husband and I are both looking forward to the move.
