If you have any recomendation on the brands, companies which install them or any DIY experience, please share.

Thanks for your time.

We did window tinting on our home about 2 1/2 yrs ago. It makes a huge difference in the amount of sun that filters in. We found not only heat, but in protecting your furniture and floors. We also had them do the Hurricane tinting....so if anything hits your windows...they might crack but shatter in. I know for sure they use 3M....but not of the the company we used and I can't find the paperwork at the moment. I think it might have been SunMasters, but I'm not 100% on that.

You might also want to check on Solar Screens, I hear those work pretty well too.

Some of these car tint places will do it for the home, too. There's a group of women in Friendswood who do both cars & home windows:

Eclipse Window Coatings

We used them for a car with good results. They sell SolarGard tint and it's good quality stuff.

As far as DIY and tint goes... I had a disasterous experience. Applying tinting requires all the special mini-tools and the procedure of laying & cutting it really is an art. I can do nearly all mechanical work repairing cars, but laying tint material is another story altogether.

Maybe buy some cheap stuff at AutoZone to try it out. If you can do it, get the real stuff and go for it. But I personally leave this one to the pros.

Check your windows. If you have double pane, low e coated windows with argon/krypton it will void the warranty. Since there have been cases where the panes popped.
