Default Apartment choice for a college student.

I am a UH student. I decided to move out and find a studio or 1 bed room apartment for myself. While I don't want to live far away from bellaire), I need some helps on finding a right apartment for me.
Below is something I am worry about.

1. Safety
2. clean
3. Price (below $500)
4. near bellaire

traffic is not a problem because the place i am living is 27 miles away from uh central.

Currently, I have a look at the westpark dr/ woodchase area, or westheimer /ella ln area. Are they good choice? or is there any better choice for my budget?

Safety is going to be an issue for an apt with <$500/month rent. I would look into apartments around westheimer between beltway 8 and 610.

Below $500/mo, you're better off staying where you're at. Even at 27 miles away from UH, that rate is still going to be 'other than desirable.'

Living in the city, you should consider upping your budget to a minimum of $750, or grab a 2/1.5 apartment with a roommate for $1,000 and split it in half.

Also consider a garage apartment. Where I live (Eastwood), there are a ton of them, and the primary market is UH-Central students. We dont have one, but I know my next door neighbor rents his out for $500 a month, and it's really cute.

Otherwise, tstone is exactly right, you are going to be surrounded by some undesireable elements.

I think you're looking for something that doesn't exist.
