The 11th FBISD High School is planned for Sienna Plantation, the growth in MO City , Sugar Land is crazy. What should they name the school.

Surprised they're building a new school. I was under the impression that they had overbuilt with the declining enrollment at some of the schools like Willowridge, etc.

Thats only because Sienna suppose to double MO City population in twenty years and people dont want their kids at Hightower. Those schools would be less than 2 miles apart on Waters Lake near Sienna Parkway.

I don't live in that area, but what's wrong with Hightower? If that school is only 2 miles away, then it's ridiculous to build another school.

Hightower is a dumping ground of undesirables from Missouri City due to really, really bad attendance zoning. I dunno what they were thinking.

Reminds me of Morton Ranch in Katy.

Oh you know exactly what they were thinking. My niece goes to Meadows in Meadows Place. I was a teacher for a different district and volunteered as a tutor for 5th grade math at her school during TAKS time. I learned that Barrington Place lobbied very heavily to not have Huntington Estates/Alief, the trailers on Synott and Milan apartments on Bellfort attend their school. Meadows got them instead. In one year they went from exemplary to just barely recognized. Sadly, I believe it was the attitude some teachers had towards students from "the wrong side of Bellfort" as opposed to the kids being any different academically. I just know the general consensus was Meadows Place wants those kids to go to Barrington Place or Townewest. Seems to me this game is played often within FBISD.

As a teacher at Meadows, I have to resent this statement. I was not there the year this happened, but I know many of the teachers that were there. Never before have I seen a school with teachers so dedicated to their students. Meadows was exemplary for at least three years until this past year when we missed it by 4/10 of a point in one subject area. Even though the population at Meadows has become more challenging over the years, the teachers have continued to go above and beyond their call of duty. This is what makes Meadows unique. I've seen other schools but never have I seen one like this. I do understand that it's possible a teacher gave you this impression, and I apologize on behalf of the school for that. I also understand why a teacher would want the students from Milan going to a different school. When apartments are zoned to your school, kids move in and out frequently. This is a big challenge, yet one that everyone at Meadows has tried their best to overcome.

I don't mean to get on my soap box, but I do feel strongly about this. At the same time, I know there are plenty of teachers out there that probably do treat the more challenging students differently and have a poor attitude about it. I just wanted to let you know that that is not the case at Meadows.
