It is a Cat 1 right now pushing a Cat 5 Storm Surge. Read this from the NWS:
LIFE THREATENING INUNDATION LIKELY!
ALL NEIGHBORHOODS...AND POSSIBLY ENTIRE COASTAL COMMUNITIES...
WILL BE INUNDATED DURING HIGH TIDE. PERSONS NOT HEEDING EVACUATION
ORDERS IN SINGLE FAMILY ONE OR TWO STORY HOMES WILL FACE CERTAIN
DEATH. MANY RESIDENCES OF AVERAGE CONSTRUCTION DIRECTLY ON THE
COAST WILL BE DESTROYED. WIDESPREAD AND DEVASTATING PERSONAL
PROPERTY DAMAGE IS LIKELY ELSEWHERE. VEHICLES LEFT BEHIND WILL
LIKELY BE SWEPT AWAY. NUMEROUS ROADS WILL BE SWAMPED...SOME MAY BE
WASHED AWAY BY THE WATER. ENTIRE FLOOD PRONE COASTAL COMMUNITIES
WILL BE CUTOFF. WATER LEVELS MAY EXCEED 9 FEET FOR MORE THAN A
MILE INLAND. COASTAL RESIDENTS IN MULTI-STORY FACILITIES RISK
BEING CUTOFF. CONDITIONS WILL BE WORSENED BY BATTERING WAVES. SUCH
WAVES WILL EXACERBATE PROPERTY DAMAGE...WITH MASSIVE DESTRUCTION
OF HOMES...INCLUDING THOSE OF BLOCK CONSTRUCTION. DAMAGE FROM
BEACH EROSION COULD TAKE YEARS TO REPAIR.

It's probably a mix.
Why do you ask?

If your house is then my house is too! Holy S. Two neighbors across the street are boarding up. I wouldn't have any idea how to board up even if I could get the wood. My second story windows worry me the most and I can't reach them. I have a LOT of big windows. Blech.

It's actually a strong Category 2 right now, and in fact, the pressure is indicative of a Category 3 storm.

they said double pain do ok up to 75-80 mph possibly stronger. BUT if anything is flying in the wind (ie. a pinecone) at that speed and hits your window, it's a gonner.
Move anything valuable away from the windows.

Note: this NWS posting refers to gulf-facing coastal areas from Matagora to High Island including Galveston Island. It does not refer to all areas or even all of the areas under mandatory evacuation

Where should I park my car, in the driveway or on the street? I just read that wind close to 100 mile will hit much of Houston.

Exactly! Another note, if you're posting info from NOAA/NWS/NHC, be sure to post it ALL, to include headers for locations, not just a snippet...it will surely scare people...
