The storm cometh. This is pretty cool. We're not going anywhere. I live just north of New Caney. I'm more worried about tornados than anything else. 59 N is starting to slow down considerably, but it's still moving at a decent clip.

Looking at Transtar, most freeways in Houston are moving along well except 290. Then again, that's pretty normal.

No Birds Outside (Ike).
Is this a sign that things will be very bad? Animals may have certain senses that we humans no longer have.

I saw one this a.m. outside my bathroom window. Hopefully I'll see one tomorrow!

Human are known as intelligent creatures, but there are always exceptions. There are people with very low IQs, there are people who are mentally challenged, etc.
This one bird that you saw might be one of the exceptions without the necessary senses that members of the same species have.

I think it'll shift eastward again and go in at Bolivar or High Island. No matter what, we're getting hurricane-force winds though.

We were just saying the same thing. It's like Rita all over again. I'd be happier if it went a LOT farther east...

I don't think it's going that far east this time. Not that it matters as far as SE Texas goes because they're going to have some serious wind and rain too.
