It looks a lot better for Victoria and other parts south/west than it did yesterday.

Once the tropical storm-force winds start in the morning or tomorrow afternoon, I'd rather not be driving anywhere. Victoria should catch at least a little bit of wind and rain.

So who's staying and who's going/gone? I hope tstone and our friends closer to the coast/along the bay got out of harm's way. I'm not in a mandatory evacuation zone so I'm hunkering down for the duration, as are most of my neighbors. I just found out houses on my block lost power for a week after Rita. NOT looking forward to a repeat of that.

San Antonian here ~ askin' for some advice for my 22 year old daughter who just moved there last weekend. She is pretty unprepared, but the thing that concerns me the most is that she hadn't purchased water yet. She's driving around now trying to locate some. Additionally, the plug for the bathtub in her apartment was missing when she moved in, so she's looking for one of those to fill her tub with "cleaning" water.
I told her to try and buy some pitchers or something. Any type of containers to stash some water. Any other ideas from seasoned Hurricane pros????

What part of town is she in? If you post that, people may be able to direct you to stores that still have water.

Thanx!! She's pretty close to the Galleria Mall. Her apartment is at Woodchase/Richmond. She was just at a Wal Mart west of the Beltway she said, and is headed to HEB after she finds a bathtub plug and Mag light.

I just bought a 33 gallon trash can to store water. Any container or plastic bag that doesn't leak is ok for storing water. Why does your daughter have to drive around to buy water? She doesn't have water where she lives? Municipal water is drinkable.
