Thanks! Living in Canada I doubt I'd know what to do in a hurricane!

Okay, our power keeps going in and out, but for now it's on so I thought I'd check to see how other Houstonians are faring. I am hearing on the radio (KHOU is broadcasting on several stations) that Brennan's Restaurant is completely destroyed by fire. I imagine that is but one of several heartbreaking stories we will see tomorrow.

I will admit this is quite scary. How in the he*l is my husband sleeping through it?!?!

LOL!

Yeah, my power has flickered on and off three times in the last hour! I'll be here till it goes out for good. I'd love to to sleep through this. I took a little nap earlier, but the high winds woke me up. I'm glued to hurricane coverage now, here and on HAIF. Stay safe, Mom.

The west side isn't being as hard hit as the rest of the area, so chances are that Katy is in decent shape. Power outages all over the area. Check out khou.com for a local news video stream.

My power's been back up for about an hour. I don't know how long it'll stay that way. It went out shortly after posting that last message, then I fell into a light sleep. From what I'm hearing on the radio, Ike is proving to be as insane and massive as ever. They're saying it hasn't weakened as it's moved inland as much as they'd expected. No slight reprieve via eye for me. For the last hour or so, I've heard more rain than wind, but there are still big gusts here and there. I haven't minded the rain so much. It's familiar. Just sounds like a thunderstorm. But the winds... the winds are high, really high, and amazing. The back side hasn't even arrived where I am so this will be interesting. A few more hours of this, eh? I know Houston was long overdue, but sheesh! Did we really need a hurricane as big as Texas?
