What about Webster and Bacliff. My mom lives in Webster and my sisters friend lives in Bacliff. Neither left. My mom isn't answering her cell phone and my sisters friend apparantly doesn't have power. We've been watching the news this morning and it looks like tiki island is underwater. (But you can still see the outlines of the buildings or streets. There was major flooding as far up as Dickinson on the satellite image.

Well, nevermind the Webster thing. My mom called and said other than 1 small tree blowing over and elephants falling in the backyard, they were fine. Still haven't heard anything from Bacliff. It's starting to get really windy and gray here in Hutto (East of 35) but still no rain in our "dry bubble"

My thoughts and my prayers will continue to go out to those in Houston and, especially, Galveston that they will make it through this tough time. And there is good news: Minute Maid Park had no significant structural damage. I can't wait until the Astros resume their season, and I hope fans will come back in earnest (Go Astros!!). In the meantime, the cleanup throughout the area is only beginning. Now we just have to wait for the rains to stop. I wish all the best for the city of Houston.

Default I10 and I45

I live in Santa Fe, but I'm staying in San Antonio. I was wondering if anyone knows about flooding on I10 or I45. I would like to have an idea of when I could travel home.

Also, my uncle is curios if anyone knows...Is the Poop Deck in Galveston still there?

Thanks

Just so you will know.. We just went through Gustav and cell phone service was greatly impacted. Sometimes a call would go right on through the first try, then you couldn't do a text or a call for days. There were days when no texts would go through (sending or recieving) then suddenly you would get 10 all at once but couldn't get one out. It was hit and miss and mostly miss and our area was hit hard but not nearly as hard as Texas has been hit.

Just try not to worry if you don't hear from your loved ones in that area, they could be trying as hard as you are to get word out to you. It was afterwards that cell service really got bad.

Believe it or not, my house phone service was never effected. My daughters was when the power went out but soon as the generator was hooked up she had hers back, she has fiber optic service and that needs power, TV and internet was up also as soon as she had power.. Remember, cordless phone do not work without power if your loved ones only have cordless. Try calling their house phones and keep trying if they were not in the flooded areas, rather than cell phones.

Also we had to shut our cell phones off, take out the battery and simms card, replace and power back up and that helped a LOT! So if you get through, tell them to do that regularly!

Default Fall Creek/Summerwood

Has anyone heard how the Fall Creek and Summerwood communities are doing? I understand these communities used to be in a wetland. Any flooding or damage?

I am in TN and watching several different news sources, both local Huston's KHOU and national news stations like TWC and Fox (mostly a joke, but still some info and pictures) as I have family that evacuated from Dickinson and went to The Woodlands. I have been taking notes for a few hours now.
From what I am getting so far All feeder roads along I-45 are impassable now. I-10 has parts of it that are fine, just north of Baytown but haven't heard or seen anything east and west of there.
Clear Lake area is pretty bad off as far as flooding.
I hear last night that the poop deck lost its front porch or deck (It was from Giraldo, so who knows about the exaggeration level there) but haven't heard anything since about it.
Galveston's court house has 3 feet of water in it.
Flood warnings all over including Hobby and Bush as well as other towns around there.Pretty much all of Galveston County.
A lot of homes on 40th street caught fire and are burned.
The memorial for those who perished during the 1900 hurricane is gone.
In Alvin along Hwy 35, it is believed a small tornado went through and a lot of debris but there were several cars in the background of the news cast that seemed to be moving along fairly well.
Sorry, my notes are written based on around Dickinson which I haven't heard much of anything about.
Surfside has had a chlorine leak and they are trying to clean that up, Lord only knows how they are going to accomplish that though.
Buffalo bayou and most other bayous around Huston have run over thier banks, however KHOU has not had any reports of homes around those bayous having flooding due to the bayous going over thier banks, just the roads.
Some of this info may be old news or of no interest to some, if so I apologize, hopefully this is useful to someone.
If I hear/see more important info I will post.
I sure hope jefre81 is still with us just without power. Maybe he is getting some much needed sleep.
Good luck everyone.
