A gas station is open on Beamer and Hall by Beltway 8 in 77089. A nearby Kroeger is also open. The line is very long. It's not worthy unless you have a dire need for something.

Lots of trees down around here. Well, more like tree limbs than whole trees. But still pretty bad. Just got power back this afternoon. No damage to our home.
Know some people in Spring and in Richmond where the power is still out.
So sad for Galveston. Saw the Seascape Condos, where we vacation every Oct, on the news. Actually looked intact, but a mess around it. Galveston is such a special place and I hope it recovers quickly.
Anyway... our part of town (First Colony) fared pretty well, and I think most have power back now. But not much open in the way of stores or restaurants. Bottled water has been relatively easy to find however.
Suggestion made on the radio - those of you with power, start making ice for those people you know who still don't have power... filll up a cooler and send it over. And do it every day or so until they have power restored. The weather is supposed to cool off over the next few days, but lots of people still need ice.

Hello from a hotel in Austin, which is where my family decided to go after we became tired of waiting for power to be restored to New Territory. If anyone hears that power is back on in the Robinson's Landing area of New Territory in Sugar Land, please DM me because we would like to come home.

Does anyone know if the power is back on in the Rosharon/Fresno area yet? Any stores or gas stations opened on Hwy 6 south towards Sugar Land? Thanks!

For those who asked about donations to animal rescue organizations or Humane Society, there are many non-profit rescue groups who will be deluged with lost pets. They will need a lot of donations to feed and house all the animals. You can find them on petfinder.com. Also, Houston has a Humane Society or ASPCA, based on what I've seen on Animal Planet (the Houston animal cops program).

On this topic, I recall that when Katrina hit N.O. and Rita hit southeast TX, there was an group that organized pet rescues and reunited pets with owners. I'll see if I can find out more, and will post here.

I think the group you might be referring to is Noah's Wish: Noah's Wish Saving Animals in Disasters: Education • Rescue • Recovery
Info on their operations related to Ike:
Noah's Wish Saving Animals in Disasters: Education • Rescue • Recovery
They were awesome after Katrina.
