whats the deal with the curfew? I need to get some work done (investment banking woes) and I need to work in downtown up to 11pm, walk to my car and drive home, all within Harris County. will i get in trouble with the law? I dont mind getting a little hassled by the police, but would they actually lock me up?

No, you won't get in trouble if you are going home or are going somewhere in an emergency. Just don't give them an attitude.

And I would suggest you have documentation on you. Such as your license to show your home address and maybe a business card with your office address so you can validate what you say you are doing.

Summerwood & Beltway East
Summerwood has plenty of trees down (including power lines). Monday @ 6:30pm still no power has been restored. At least once a day a different truck will come through peddling generators at $1500 a pop. No flooding.
There are a handful of gas stations in Humble with fuel. The lines are normally about 50 - 100 cars.
The Valero Station located on Beltway East (between Tidwell & Summerwood) had fuel on Monday midday. The lines were only 60 cars deep. Considering 4 lanes, that normally constitues to an hour wait. However, most stations have limited purchases to $35 - $50.

Y'all can sit down now... daddy's here.
Our part of Clear Lake was spared. A little bit of roof damage in the neighborhood, but mine was spared. But there is tree & fence damage everywhere. Power came on for us yesterday and internet came back today. I'd say 90% of the area is still without power.
FWIW the Burger King on El Dorado near Hwy 3 was open. Quiznos on 528 & Bay Area in Friendswood is also open. There was a Chevron station open yesterday selling gas & beer on Bay Area close to the HPD station. That's about all I know. I'm just cleaning up wood & leaves until I get a go-ahead for work.

I think the Poop Deck will probably make it through anything. It's as hale and hardy as its clientele.

Yep Salvation Army has always had a good rep. Everywhere I have lived Goodwill has stories of people that work there taking the good stuff people donate and never put it in the stores.
Salvation army always puts stuff in stores they have and seem very honorable.

For Katrina, Best Friends took care of my cats in Tylertown, MS. It was a month or so before I was able to locate and pick up my babies, and when I drove up to the makeshift animal shelter, I cried. There were many, many tents and cars with license plates from all over the U.S. It was amazing to see the number of volunteers who were sleeping outdoors in the heat and humidity of Mississippi. Dogs were housed individually in very large chain-link type kennels. There were three cabins. One for the vet office, a mess hall and a facility for cats. It was quite amazing. I was surprised at the security (you just couldn't walk in) and the organization. I was brought to someone who had personally taken care of my cats and who gave me information about their stay. They took pics of our reunion and tried to give me soft-sided cat carriers, but I had brought my own. The cats had been well taken care of, had been given shots and vitamins and not a dime was asked of me. I gave them a donation and it was taken with genuine surprise. It is a shame to say that my cats never looked healthier. And when we walked out of the cat shelter someone with a bullhorn announced that pets had been reunited with their owner, and out of nowhere, at least 50 people walked up to us clapping and cheering. I still donate to Best Friends.
