I live in Lakewood Forest south of Tomball, 77070, still no power and Centerpoint is saying not to expect it until after next Thursday. Running the laptop and modem using an invertor off the car battery! It's good to be married to a electrical engineer.

Friendswood area here...just got power back tonight Sat. night, lost it 5 pm last week Friday. Still pockets on the west side of 45 without. Was in Nassau Bay earlier today, still areas without power and gas at gas stations.

I feel such sympathy for anyone still without power...now that we are going into Week 2, it gets really old.

Drove over to my grandparent's vacant house in Memorial to check for power...it's on! Don't know when it came on but there's some nasty looking milk in the fridge. Yard crew cleaned up the yard but every house on the street has a huge pile of limbs on the curb waiting to be picked up.

I'm in Willis between Conroe and Huntsville, and just got Power back two days ago. Our Power went off at 5:00 A.M. Saturday morning the day that Ike hit, so we were without Power for a week.

At least the weather's been nice (read: not hot - although I guess that depends on who you ask) and there are things to do that are open now. People who don't have power can get out of the house.

Going down Bissonnet between Weslayan and South Shepherd, it looked like everything was on except the signal at Wakeforest. Which was strange, because it was completely out and not even flashing while everything else around it was lit up.

It appears that the streets of West U. off Weslayan seem to have power, but it can be hard to tell who actually has power and who's got lights running off generators.

Amen sister, same here! we ran a floor fan with our inverter! we just got power yesterday and it was out since Friday 9 pm! Hard times but hardly any damage to our home, but the deductible to get the little damage fixed will be hard to make!

I wonder if FEMA is going to be helping anyone with very high insurance deductibles? Is it income dependant? I know my friends in Friendswood have an 8K deductbible (I think ours is similar) and they will have to spend close to that much in repairs.

The power immediately went back out after the explosion and has not yet been restored.
Yep I heard about that. I live in the same zip code. Been staying at a friend's all week.

DH has an apartment in 77024 - according to CenterPoint's map, he'll have power by tomorrow - which is good since he just paid $300/night to stay at the Omni in Energy Corridor. Apartment is too hot to sleep. Thankfully he leaves for Chicago tomorrow for the rest of the week.

BTW - he ran into a guy staying in the apt complex and he had heard elec won't be restored for 2 weeks. We'll have to wait and see...
