I also have the same problem. Je has a driveway and free spaces in front of his house and yet he parks in front of my house. I already put my garbage bin and yet he still parks so close to my garbage bin. I also had my daughter park her car in front but when she leaves he just park right back. Let me know how you solve your problem if ever. We don't have a HOA.

This thread started in 2008 and the last post before yours is from 2011, I would venture to guess any issues have been resolved and you will not get an update however it is possible you will.

I know that it's an old thread, but I have a question. Isn't the street in front of ones house public anyway, which means that anybody can park there if they wanted to? Can you really complain to the HOA about this? Thanks

exactly! and calling the cops? They would probably laugh at you. I think they have more important things to do.

I don't understand why it bothers some people so much for others to park in front of their house, but HOAs can't enforce rules on a public street. However, in the case of a gated community with private streets, HOAs can dictate street parking rules.

I think the CoH does have rules about leaving abandoned vehicles on city streets and/or leaving a car parked on a city street for more than 72(?) hours. Both rules are unlikely to be enforced unless complaints are made in regards to a particular violation.

In principle though - the street is a public good, paid for by everyone's tax dollars, and as long as vehicles are moved at least once every 72(?) hours then their operators are within their rights, even if they're not being great neighbors.

There are some neighborhoods in Houston whose streets are public, but like to pretend otherwise. Memorial Thicket comes to mind - it has one entrance/exit, with a guardhouse and a sign demanding that all non-residents sign in with security. The sign has no legal basis and is generally ignored.
