Incidentally, Obama is leading in the polls in Iowa. Strange, huh?

Anyway, back to the partisan bickering.

Ike pulled 5k out of my pocket for Hotel, Food, tree clean-up and haul away, the pool drain and clean up and yes it bites but...........I wouldn't hold my hand for FEMA even if I qualified. Geez.

FEMA needs to be left to those who really were left with NOTHING.

PS...how can "well-to-do" suburbanites even qualify? I'm stumped by this statement. There's an income cut-off amount.

They may not qualify, but they may have applied.

And I think anyone who had damages to their now-uninhabitable primary residences that insurance didn't cover can qualify.

There are people who will decry people taking handouts but will be the first to ask for them when they're the ones in need.

I mean, look at Wall Street right now...

I can't help but believe that if Ike had hit New Orleans that Sen. Obama would make a beeline there to show his support for all those poor victims but nary a peep out of him for all the folks in Galveston and other hard-hit areas here on the Coast. I guess we're just entirely too self-sufficient for our own good.

I agree 150%.......If Houston and Galveston had as many African-Americans (or whatever they are calling themselves this month), percentage wise....New Orleans 70%, Houston 25%, Galveston 26%, then everyone from Hollywierd would be down there faster than you can say "20 million dollar salary". Maybe its because whenever there is a minor crisis, the blacks are the first ones to gripe and complain about something. While watching the local coverage of IKE on KHOU, KTRK and KPRC, who were the ones complaining about EVERYTHING.....the Blacks. And what I noticed was the poor helpless its all white peoples fault welfare recipients doing the complaining. You didnt see the ones that actually WORK, moaning. I bet you all the gold in Fort Knox it was the Katrina evacuees that were doing the complaining....I say, SEND EM BACK TO N'ORLANS!

And BTW, I lost a helluva lot, but you don't see me moaning.......I just take it as a "one of those things" events and MOVE ON!!

I heard people of all races calling into KTRH acting like it was the end of the world because they didn't have electricity four or five days after the storm.

Often, yes. I guess you're right. Can I get into the Klan meeting now?

I know white trash when I hear it.
