I'm wondering if anyone can suggest places to meet other singles in Houston besides the clubs (not my thing). Or any meetups/groups that have a number of young sngle professionals.

Under "Topic" type in Singles
Then enter your zip code. There are close to 100 different single meet-ups in the greater Houston area. I just helped my sister join a few since she is about to move here from SoCal.

You should have no trouble finding a few that meet your tastes. Some are by age, some are Single "Wine O" groups, there are singles with dogs, singles who meet for dinner... the list is long!
