I think the real issue is Houstonians hold up The Galleria to a much higher esteem than it deserves. What's so great about it? It's Mall of America minus the rides.

I created it and I'm not ashamed... in fact, last week we were 'Riding Dirty' by the waterfall, and there were two limos there, one stretch Hummer, and lots of Cholas ran to it in their huge prom dresses. My little daughter saw those shiny and colorful tents and said "Ohhh", like she liked it. My wife and I just stared at each other. I just wanted to put my elbows up and 'Dance Like A Cholo'.... but I was driving.

There is still a lot of 'ghettoness' there, but harmelss for the most part.

You are right. In order for Mall of America to be as classy as The Galleria, the Mall of America would have to hire tons of Eastern European women to hassle customers while walking by every kiosk.

Not sure if this is a news flash but Houston is considered to be ghetto by most.

Most that have never been here, perhaps. As for the Galleria Mall, I do believe most outsiders see it as just another mall and nothing special.

Yep^^^^^ When I was a kid here in the 70's - 80's it was an upscale mall with upscale clinetele. Now the Galleria = any local mall.
