I cuurently just moved to Lakes of Savannah off highway 6 near 288. I drive my wife to the medical center in the mornng and I am already going crazy about the traffic on 288. I was wondering if there is a better alternate route I can take into the medical center in the morning. I am only about a mile away from 521. Is FM 521 a better way into the medical center in the morning. Any routes you think is better would be great!

The traffic on 288 is horrible. I have lived off 288 & McHard for 10 years and it just keeps getting worse. I have tried Cullen and Almeda but they aren't any better. Good Luck!

Only real problem with 521 is you'll hit red lights. Then again, you'll hit red lights on 288 too; only difference is they're on the cars.

Try the fort bend tollway. Take Hghwy 6 going south?, and you will be connected to the Tollway. It's a straight shot into the medical center and moves quickly.

Except it would be 6 North. For the $1.75 each way, it is super fast right to 90A, and that turns into Kirby.

Years ago when Silverlake was Southwyck - they were selling that area with a "15 minute ride into med center and downtown, 20 minutes in traffic" from the sales office. How times have changed. I drove over there a couple of months ago on a Saturday about mid-day. Never again - traffic was unbearable on 518 as you neared 288 and friends say that is a constant.

That was back when none of that stuff around 518/288 was there, right? I remember that. Wasn't really all that long ago.

Yeah - the people in Southwyck were crying for even a grocery store to move out there but no body would build until the population reached a certain number and now look at the place -- people are hoping the growth will slow down and hold off any more traffic.
