Taylor Jacob Custom Homes
I am very disapointed in Taylor Jacor.
This builder built us a very nice home, but over the years, we have discovered that he has used poor labor to do so.
Over the past 3 years since we bought the house, we have had 4 major plumbing problems. In the first 2 years, they had to fix it as it was still on warranty.
In the third year, we had a major leak and the builder refused to do anyhting about it. We discovered, at our expense, that the leak was due to a cracked pipe in the wall that had been either installed craked or had craked during the building process. As of today, the builder still has not agreed to do anyhting to help us out on this saying it is out of warranty.
I think it is very sad for a custom home builder to not stand behind it's product when it is evident that poor workmanship was the reason for th defictoive product he sold us. If he tried to save money using undrqualified labor, he should at least take reponsability for it if things go wrong because of it... what is the point of building a luxury home if you don't get the quality that is supposed to come with it???

The builder has agreed to fix some of it. Most of the cost was still incurred by me...

Thanks for letting us know. It is hard to get info about the small, custom builders.

Despite the name of the company being Taylor Jacob, the actual builder is someone who I believe has built in the North part of town for a long time.

Customer service
I have alot of dealing with Taylor Jacob Custom homes & I would find it hard to beleive that if you had an issue with a home he built that he would not stand behind it. I know that he does alot of houses in the north & west part of town & could not do that if he allowed is subs to do poor labor.

He builds in Bellaire, right?
Who doesn't use subs when they are a smaller builder? Our builder used lots of subs too - but keeps his 3 actual employees on hand to oversee work. I guess he also decided not to cut corners when he built. He still comes by 3 years later to make sure everything is ok.

I would think this would be a fairly common problem with any new-build here, regardless of who did it. I live in a neighborhood that's actively being developed, and cannot believe how many houses have gone up in my immediate vicinity in ten months. Average build time from lot to turn-key is three months flat! How much quality can you realistically expect? When we moved in, our adjacent area was literally prairie, complete with cows; now there are scores upon scores of enormous homes. It's really sad.

I think it is amazing that they came back and did anything after 2 years, sounds like a great builder to me!

Tayler Jacob
I've been trying to get repairs done for months under the one year builder warranty with no luck. Understand from my warranty administrator that Tayler Jacob has closed up in The Woodlands & doesn't return any calls or respond to him. They are probably out of business, but if any of you have any current contact information, I would appreciate it.
