Default Internet Provider Question

Looking for some info on Internet Service Providers...Comcast Internet,
or AT&T Yahoo DSL? Moving back to Houston soon. I have little knowledge
about either one. TW Road Runner has worked okay in several cities I've
lived in. Any input would be appreciated!

~ Thanks ~

I used to have cable internet and had lots of outages, usually only a few hours but it was annoying. Getting a cable tech on the phone is an exercise in frustration. Switched to ATT/Yahoo DSL and never had any outages at all. And it's $20/mo. cheaper. Now I have U-verse, I think the DSL is the same. Still no outages, I had phone service day after the hurricane but no power for 10 days. Got a generator after a few days and at least had TV and internet to get me by. I think after two weeks Comcast still had more than 50% customers without service.

I have only been here about 2 weeks full time now. We have no cable where I am so I got WiFi from Verizon. It is $59/m which is about $19 more then I paid for cable internet.

The normal price to purchase the WiFi modem is $80 but this month it is on sale for $29/m

In about 8 days I have not lost internet for any period of time. Only one time it dropped but I re-logged on immediately.

Another at&t u-verse vote here. Had comcast and hated them...constant outages. Was so happy they fit our neighborhood for u-verse.

If you live in Kingwood area you can get Embarq which is very good. Avoid Suddenlink.

I had TW Roadrunner pretty much forever and then it became Comcast. In ever noticed any change in service. Both were fast. I had issues back when I first started, due to high signal/noise levels in my neighborhood (not fiber), but that cleared up about 3 years ago and it was ultra-reliable.

After the past 7 months of dealing with Comcast, I will never sign up with them again. I'm trying to hang in there until we move again, but every week with Comcast there is some new problem. I just went to a neighborhood block party and discovered that most of my neighbors have had even more frequent and serious outages than I've had. I'd recommend choosing any option other than them.

We have Comcast....formally, TW...and have never had a single problem with them. No outages! Wonder if it is the neighborhood and equipment?

Going to "TRY" Comcast. I'm currently living in Austin. Signed up with RoadRunner after they upgraded with the fiber lines. My service has been solid.
A friend lives about 30 miles from me, and RoadRunner always runs slow at his house. There's a few hundred apartment dwellers nearby who only use cable for their Internet & Television. This could be the cause behind some of his problems.
