Every day for the last 3 weeks Comcast has gone out for atleast 1hr few times for 4 to 6 hrs anybody elese having this probelm. Before the storm if the cable tv went out you could use the internet but now when there service goes out every thing goes out this sucks. I am thinking about switch to a better service now I get 750k to 800k download & 124k upload is there any other good cable & internet provider here where I can get the same or faster internet speed.

Perhaps you have some line problems in your area. It will take a call to them if you want it fixed.
I'm no Comcast fanboy, but I haven't found anything better. Their Internet is fast and reliable (at least for me), and the cable TV is the same--rarely a problem. I had both back within days after Ike.
I've compared Comcast to Uverse, DirecTV and others. Their prices are competitive, service is reliable. So I stick with them.
Make a service call.

Road Runner was FAR superior. This extra charge for more speed is total BS. One speed (as fast as it can be) for one price was much better.

They restored Comcast service to our place, but the analog stations are fuzzy with ghosting. That normally indicates LOTS of signal noise on the line. No idea if they intend to fix it. Before Ike, the analog picture was sharp. IMO, better than the compressed digital.

So you mean to say that you haven't called Comcast but you think that complaining about it on city-data is going to do something, somehow. Am I getting this right?

Very recently, we had Comcast connect our new house to the grid. The install guy arrived in his beat up old mini-van with the Comcast magnet on the door. I was there, watched him do the exterior hook-up. A week later, we're not getting all of the channels so my wife exchanges the box for another one, same thing. A couple of days later a new Comcast guy comes out. He says the buried line from the pedestal was nicked. He replaced it, checked the connections at my distribution panel. Everything works fine now. I wanted ATT Uverse, not available in my area yet. So, I'll stick with Comcast. What are my alternatives really? I usually don't have any problems with Comcast and this time we added phone. Gonna talk to them about monitoring my security as well.

Well, we have actually experienced what you are talking about. It isn't a Comcast problem--it's a Hurricane Ike and Center Point problem.
Your cable and internet is most likely on a generator right now, and when the gas goes out, so does the internet. I'd find out where your generator is and help them get gas for it since they're running all over town trying to refill a lot of generators.
The problem is, cable relies on electric. It's like a spider web, and if there's a break in the web, the signal has to take the long way around and the traffic quickly gets pretty "clogged" pretty fast, just like regular auto traffic when a lane is shut down and cars are re-routed. The generator has to pick up the slack.
Things will be back 100% as soon as electric is back all over town 100%. Just be patient.
Oh--edited to add--their tech support is in Florida and they really have no clue what is going on over here. They cannot give any information other than some stock answer they've been told to say. If you want real info, stop when you see a Comcast truck and ask one of the lineman. A cold drink or a cup of coffee would probably be appreciated. I know our guy has been out in Georgetown a lot the past few weeks. We took him Halloween candy last weekend, after that he was all smiles and said he'd give it to his kids. That's when we found out about the electricity issue. Honey and vinegar, you know?
