We will be visiting in the Houston area in the very near future. We would like to know from locals what are the best sights to visit---say within an hour or an hour and a half--for short day trips.
What do you recommend? Space center?? We like history. My husband likes beer.

Well, here's some info for your husband

Houston Brewpubs (http://ericsbeerpage.com/Beer/Brewpub/Texas/houston.html - broken link)

The Space Center is a long way from Tomball maybe 1.5 hrs maybe longer not sure but worth a trip if that's what you're interested in. I live in Tomball and I'd recommend going into town for entertainment. A quick search on this forumn and you will find that this topic has been covered many times. There are art museums, the zoo and Natural science museum. For shopping try the Galleria.
