Default Wilshire Park in Pasadena

Does anyone know anything or have any comments about this area? The zip is 77502. My husband will be coming down for temporary work and the company he will be with is offering reasonable housing in this area. Just wondering if it was ok or if we should try to do something on our own. I appreciate any comments, thanks so much!

I'd personally be looking at other options. It's not terrible but you could do better. There's a reason pricing here (and in many other parts of Houston) is ''reasonable.''

I would avoid 77502 -- its not awful but its not desirable either. Try looking in 77505 of Pasadena (if you have kids look in 77505 assigned to Deer Park Schools) or else in directly in Deer Park -- I think the zip is 77536. Is there a particular price range that you need to stay within?

Smile O.K. 77502 Pasadena

I own property in this zip code and I do know the area pretty well. You are talking about central Pasadena around the Southmore and Shaver area.

Well this area is almost completely Hispanic. It is a very populated area that is a little bit older say since the 1960's this area has been completely built out.

This area is Pretty much right in the middle of the Beltway 8 and the loop 610 it is in a central location.

the pros) You are close in. Downtown is less than 20 minutes and the medical center is even closer. You are also not far from Clear Lake and the bay area. There are a lot and I mean A LOT!! of jobs arouind this Zip Code. This makes it perfect for rental homes. You almost can't find a home for rent around there.

the cons) It is not that great of an area. It is older and somewhat upkept. The crime although not horrible is not that great. It is close to the refineries and Chemical plants so you may smell the smoke from those plants. Schools are not that great. They are O.K. but below average. This is a blue collar lower income area that is almost completely Hispanic with a few whites and almost no Blacks at all. On a scale of 1 to 10 I would give it a 4.5.
