Default Internship/Short Term Housing for General Electric; Help!

Son has been offered a summer (2009)internship w/GE at the Jacintoport Blvd location (possibly). According to the map, that would be near the Channelview area of Houston. Any safe, affordable housing recommendations? Thanks!

Personally, I wouldn't live anywhere near there. But there are several reasonable commute options. In the city, the Heights area is nice (& bring your Espanol if you have it)... just shoot right down I-10. In suburbia, there is a fairly nice apartment complex in Pasadena on Fairmont between Beltway 8 & Space Center. You'll have to pay a toll to get to & from work, though. That's the only part of Pasadena I would recommend.

A slightly farther-out option in the city would be Midtown. It might be about the same distance away IIRC vs. Heights. In the suburbs would be an apartment complex near Hwy 3 @ Pineloch in Clear Lake (Webster zip code I believe). Tolls apply in the burbs again.

I'm sure there is something on the outer NE side as well (towards Humble), but I'm not familiar with that side of town.

My husband works there and when we first moved to TX we got an apartment in Pasadena. It was a 15-20 min. commute to Jacintoport. It's in the nicest part of Pasadena near shopping, parks, etc. Here's the website: The Broadwater Apartments It's very nice, safe, clean, etc. It's a little pricey though. Good luck! GE is a great company!
