Default Where to Live In Houston

I am moving from Orange County in California to Houston area. Will be working in Pasadena area. I'm looking for the best area to raise my kids (6 and 13). I also want to avoid any terrible commutes to work. Can anyone with a similar perspective give me any advice?

Looking at this map: http://www.har.com/cs_condo.htm

18 is a good area, right?

What about 20, 22, 11, 34, and 9????

I don't really know, but we just picked out a place in the Fort Bend Independent School District - if yours are smarties, better to be in good schools...look at the school ratings online - some rate in the top 100 for the U.S.
Good Luck! Happy Moving! (I'm so sick of boxes!)

Default School Ratings

School ratings can be skewed. Best to find a community you like and go and check out the schools individually. Talk to other parents and see what they say. Visit the insides of the schools and check out how it is being run and taken care of. Ratings must be viewed in a very general light. For new Homes You can go on Builder web-sites and look to see who's building on the South and southeast side. Might want to check air quality also. Use HAR.com for existing home sales and communities. Lots of tools on HAR also.

If you are going to be working in Pasadena, Clear Lake is a short commute and a nice community. School system is Clear Creek ISD which has a good reputation. Clear Lake has a new library and a wide variety of homes and prices. Clear Lake can get pricey in the new sections, upward of $1M and more around the new country club. Lived there for thirteen years and absolutely loved it. It's where Johnson Space Center is. Just over the 146 bridge is Kemah, gateway to Galveston Bay and the biggest marina in TX.
