Default Jersey Village - millage/tax rate

Hi,

I may be moving to Texas soon, either Dallas or Houston, from SE Louisiana.

I'd be working close to the nw corner of the 610 loop so have been looking at houses in the Jersey Village area, along 290. I was looking at a 2003 report from the city which said the property tax rate was .67 per $100. For a $250K home, that works out to $1675, which seems pretty low so I'm assuming I'm missing the boat somewhere. Is Jersey Village that low, are my assumptions wrong, or am I missing a zero

I'm preparing myself for property tax shock ($75K exemption here, I pay a few hundred a year in property tax) so any help would be appreciated.

Also looking at Houston Heights area.. however I may or may not have my teens with me during the school year.

Thanks!

Edit: Ok I think that's the city tax rate... I just looked some Harris County tax bills for some of the houses I'm looking at, I assume that's another bill... even so, by my calculations for $250K value I'd be looking at a county/city obligation of roughly $4-6K... does that sound right??
