I just got Comcast internet at my new (old) house and it seems pretty fast. I can allegedly get bursts up to 12MB, but I haven't tested that yet.
As some have said, there's not much you'd need more than that for... not much legitimate anyway. Even most corporate users with direct fiber to their office don't utilize that kind of bandwidth.

There is something seriously wrong in Houston, a huge city full of suckers whom seem not care bout internet speeds. WTF.

what in the heck do you do, to need that much speed? And you do mean 50mbps down and 10 up-- right?

Fios exists in certain parts of Houston as does U-Verse which is, purportedly, better than Fios.
Yes, you don't have much choice _any where_ in the U.S., but you can thank all of our great federal representatives who have for years given our money to these companies just so they can come bleed us dry and give us nothing in return.

I'm glad we don't, there are actually only three "successful" companies in that list (the rest have yet to make a profit, while they sound cool, at least one of them doesn't even have any real model yet on how to make money) -- for those three you listed, there were thousands of burn-outs that sapped their local economies in the inevitable bust after the boom.
Houston has started many great companies, some of which you may or may not have heard of. Yes, we are known for our energy companies primarily, but did you know we're also at the heart of a lot of network security companies? Oh, I know, it doesn't sound pretty like twitter (ha, yeah, that's a great company to model after!) - and you don't get to read about them every day, but they are household names...

But you can't get both FIOS Internet and FIOS TV, because Verizon refuses to compete with Comcast. For much the same reason you can't get FIOS at all in Miami/Ft Lauderdale, but you can in Tampa (where Comcast doesn't do business). Not much point to get FIOS Internet if you still have to get your cable TV from Comcast.
