It has?
Houston Crime Maps | Super Neighborhood | Greater Uptown
Houston Crime Maps | Super Neighborhood | Medical Center Area
Houston Crime Maps | Super Neighborhood | Greenway/Upper Kirby Area
This is a better quality of life?
I lived in the Medical Center from '03-04 and there was some kind of crime in the area, and in our overpriced apartment complex every time every time we turned around. It's ''grown up'' a bit since then but the crime maps show the same crap is going down there.
I'll stay in Clear Lake, thanks.

Let's take a look at these crime maps.
The three show mainly automobile-related crimes. This is not surprising since the Galleria, Hermann Park, and Highland Village attract a lot of people and I am sure some guys leave their cars unlocked. Also those areas are dense with people (residents and non-residents) and traffic so of course there are higher numbers.
What would concern us? *Random serious crimes* like robbery, random murder, etc.

I don't think so. Not all cities will become crime infested. Sugar Land will become one of those middle-upper class enclaves. All of the cheap stuff is a little further down 59 towards Rosenberg and Richmond.

I disagree a little. Parts of Sugar Land could very well become a little rougher. Barrington Place is a great candidate for this. Their proximity to some tough apartments in Alief along with the fact that Meadows Place to the east has zero tolerance for anything stupid causes Barrington Place to be at risk. I think everything south of Airport will be fine. But let's be honest. Sugar Land acts as though everything north of Alt 90 doesn't count and those whose children attend Clements or Austin act as though Kempner is some sort of gang infested wasteland. I think the verdict is still out on Rosenberg and Richmond. They could go either way. FBISD sections of Richmond will flourish.

On the crime maps I pay attention to where the blips for robbery or rape are happening the most. Assaults too, but that covers a lot of things. You can have somebody smashing a beer bottle over somebody's head in a bar fight and have it end up on the crime map like that. Doesn't necessarily mean every one was the work of thugs roaming the streets looking for a random person to beat up for lack of something better to do.
Murders are rarely random. They may seem that way when presented on the news, but in most cases there was a very specific reason for it. And wherever they are random they can happen anywhere. Sharpstown Mall, Downtown, a high school in the suburbs, an Indian reservation, inside the Johnson Space Center, you name it. Psychotic people are everywhere and weapons are everywhere. If anyone thinks they're safe because they're in Katy or because they're in a nice neighborhood in the city, they can think that way until they get proven otherwise. There are people who take advantage of people who have their guard down.

James Rodriguez has been a lot more pro-active than Carol "do nothing" Alvarado ever was. He lives in Garden Villas also, so that has probably helped. Telephone Road will never be exactly what you'd call a scenic drive. Colorful maybe...

Yes it will always be colorful....have you ever heard the song Telephone Rd written by a Houstonian? It is on Itunes. My kids love it and it is so reminiscient of the way old Telephone Rd used to be.

It's hard to believe there actually was a time when Sharpstown was a safe family neighborhood.
My God...

This thread has inspired me to go and take a look at this area. It should be an interesting day.
