I live in Katy, and have to drive home from the Galleria/Greenway Plaza area each day, so I am in traffic quite a bit. I've noticed many new license plates around the Katy area. It's not Thanksgiving visitors either, I've noticed for a month now. Anyone else notice this? I'm thinking people are coming to 'greener pastures'.

Yes, from other states. I've seen them from Wisconsin, Michigan, Missouri, Alabama and even Florida. Also, I notice that the DPS office in Katy is very busy now, I told a co-worker to go there go get away from the lines, and he was there over two hours. If you are not familiar with the DPS office in Katy, it is usually not that busy. He also said everyone was getting new driver licenses.

That new plate is awful. I like the old ones (prior to the present ugly ones) with a small Texas flag, plain white plate, plain black letters. I don't want the back of my car to be cluttered by that new awful thing. I voted for the simple one.

sounds like an attempt to promote Katy as the place to be. I see a lot of out of state plates everywhere even in dowtown ghosttown parking lots. probably have to do with concerts, school transfers, quilting convention or something

A good deal of the new plates could also still be a few people who came to cash in on Ike (both legit and illegit contractors).
