My wife and I are coming into town to do a tour with a real estate agent and get a feel for the city. I am looking for some help in a few areas:

1) What hotel would you recommend that is in Katy and decent priced?
2) What are some major points of interest that we should be sure not to miss?
3) Where are some good local owned (non chain) places to eat?

Thank you! I am so excited to get on the plane!

Smile Make sure you buy in south katy

Buy south of the interstate 10. Just a suggestion but a good suggestion. Your best bet would be Cinco Ranch or Westgreen park or seven meadows or just somewhere south of the 10.

On our househunting trip we stayed at the Hampton Inn and Suites on I-10 and Mason Rd in Katy. Honestly, I did NOT like it, but I'm not sure where else would be much better. We bought in Cinco Ranch and love it. As far as non chains...I like La Finca on Westheimer in the shopping plaza across from Target in Cinco Ranch. I also like Hasta La Pasta on 99/Grand Parkway at Highland Knolls.

A couple of places to eat

Texas Borders Bar & Grill

Welcome to Victor's Mexican Restaurant and Cantina

Katy does not have the selection of hotels/motels that you would find in Houston. In fact, until recently, there were only a couple of motels along I-10. I don't think it matters which one you stay in - they are all just your basic place to stay.

And, I am not sure I would say that there are any "major points of interest" to see in Katy. Katy is just the suburbs - homes, some recent retail. When I have had family members come by, I have driven them around the area to see how clean and nice it is, but I haven't taken them to anyplace of notable interest in Katy.
