Pave some of the bad roads. Some roads downtown is like driving the roads of Morocco. Patches on top of patches on top of patches.

Hurry the hell up with the Rt 59 construction north of Kingwood. If they worked any slower...........................

Remove the useless HOV lanes. Maybe 14 cars per day use it anyway. Removing it could add another driving lane to each direction. Much higher and better use of that area in the center of our roads if you give it to ALL of us. Imagine all the money they spent for the sole use of 14 cars.

Why not free concerts in the park. Either of the 2 big parks. About 13 years ago when I lived in south Virginia we had FREE concerts in the park. Big name popular bands, no junky no names. The city paid the bill. In return the city got it back 10 fold by parking fees and all the money spent in the surround restaurants. The city also took fees for kiosks too. This would bring a little family night life into an otherwise ghost town weekend nights.

I see many dilapidated homes/businesses/structures. These are eye sores. Why cant the city FORCE the legal owners of these properties to clean it up. Give them a time frame to do so, if they dont then the city does it for them and charges the owner. Many cities/towns do this. No one wants to have a falling down home next to them let alone look at it.

Do those stupid signs that tell you how many minutes to the next exit do anything for anyone? I cant figure out any value to them no matter how hard I try !

Was this really needed? This thread is for what Houstonians would like to see to improve their city. No need to be smug about it.

I like to see, which is similar to some others posted:

1. Amusement Park (six flags or something similar)
2. a nicely lit skyline (just seems kind of dim compared to other big cities)
3. Expanded public transportation (commuter rail, more park and rides, etc.)
4. sidewalks, sidewalks, and more sidewalks (Houston area is a deathtrap for pedestrians)
5. No more annexation ( i mean really, 600sq miles is big enough for the city)
6. at least make the billboards look cool. (aka vegas strip type thing)
7. more parks, trails, etc. (plenty of open space for that)
8. Less chain stores, restaurants, etc and more mom and pop type choices.
one of the biggest ripoffs houstonians have experienced. it is on the hearts and minds of many houstonians yet.
and thanks for following my threads. as a former resident of both cities i feel these posts are not wild accusations. 130,000 were not all gangbangers but many were -----more than houston or NO needed.

Freeway construction takes forever because only 3 people work on it at any one time!

There are free concerts at Kemah every summer and downtown in the spring. Also, all concerts are free at Miller Outdoor theater. Rice stadium has free movies on Friday nights. You can sit out on the field on a blanket and have a picnic with your family.

1. less thugs
2. less whiners - (those who move here from all over the place and then whine incessitantly about how much better whatever it is they are barking about is in the city or state they came from).
3. less people telling me that I'm not cold when obviously I am. I know my own skin, thanks anyway.
4. More nightlife downtown for all ages - not just the up and coming 20-somethings.
5. Protection of Freeman's town from developers and some rebuilding of the current shotgun houses that make them nice for families but protect the history of them.
6. Less new midtown and downtown homeowners complaining about the poor (who were there first) that live around them. Instead of calling it urban blight - get some charity and help them update those historic old homes and learn to live with neighbors of all income levels.
7. More independent restauranteurs downtown in addition to the chains. Some nice, new quirky places.
8. More history preservation and restoration mixed in with the new.
9. More nice parks like Discovery Green in other areas of town.
10. A nice amiptheatre (like Cynthia Mitchell Pavillion) centerally in-town instead of way out in the Woodlands.
11. A well-maintained amusement park

South Moroccan roads can be found on S. Shaver, specifically between Hwy 3 to I-45. Geeze
