My wish list for Houston(brace yourselves)....
1) Possibly convert current Sugar Land Airport to a domestic airport.
2) 24hour lightrail from all different locations(as previously posted by others)
3) Clean up North Houston it looks much more dilapidated than south west down 59.
4) STOP MAKING STRIP MALLS!! AND GET RID OF SOME OF THE EXISTING ONES!!
5) ZONING!!!!
But the truth of the matter is; these changes that we're all hoping for will not be visible in our lifetimes, there is so much that needs to be done.

Yes, lets hope he gives up the mayor's position AND loses his senate run so we can get someone else in who actually gives two cents about the people of the city and the city itself (Mayor Bob - come back - you have to admit, the Laniers had the interest of Houston and its citizen at heart). We were just a stepping stone for his future endeavours which was predicted by a poli-sci prof friend that I know, long before he opened our doors to crime just to get name recognition and awards.
Realize that is a bit off topic but as Wysi reiterated ..... One thing to see in Houston ..... a NEW mayor.

Many of these are problems that occur in all large U.S. cities. But I agree with most.
How about if folks suggest ways of actually implementing these changes when they complain?
One thing I would like to see is more imaginative architecture in the tall buildings. I think the skyline is nice, and I especially like Midtown, but I wonder why the architecture overall is so much less imaginative than in Dallas. Have you seen Dallas lately? The architecture is amazing. Now...as to how to encourage better highrise architecture in Houston, I honestly don't know!! A letter (email) writing campaign? If I ever make my anticipated move to Houston, I promise to take on this issue! I know there are other things that are more important, but this is just one that I've thought about.

Nationwide, most trash that ends up on the roadside isn't from people throwing it out of a car. Most of it comes from commercial trash hauling trucks that do not cover the load with a tarp, as required by law. The most common secondary cause is overflowing dumpsters behind businesses. Their trash ends up blowing all over the place. You should see how bad it is around the Austin area. A lot of Houston looks much cleaner than most of Austin. I've tried to generate interest in Austin regarding ways to resolve this problem, to no avail. Costs too much money, of course.

More public transportation(being worked on), a theme park(being worked on), a centralized nightlife/live music scene in downtown houston. More urbanity in downtown houston. More energy in this city.

I'm not exactly understanding where people are getting that there isn't a centralized nightlife downtown; haven't you guys been on main street??? Also all the nightlife centered around downtown with clubs like Howl at the moon, Red Door, Venue, The Patio, etc

Id like to see the hardy toll road extension into downtown, beltway 8 finished in the northeast side, and hurry up and finish highway 90 on the east side between the beltway and 610. i also wish downtown would get another building thats at least 700-800 ft tall or taller. and one more thing, id like to see more movies made here.
