UTI was a HUGE waste of money. I did meet some really cool people though when I went & most of the instructors were kick ass.

If you do move to Houston you'd better hold on to that job because most shops & dealers in the Houston area won't hire UTI students because a lot of them are Moderator cut: profanity.

true, but im not a Moderator cut: profanity. i knew a lot b4 i went there, and i did learn more. I run a large bodyshop here in chicago, so for me UTI wasnt a waste.

Doesn't matter if you are or not. UTI has a stigma attached to it in Houston. No one will hire you if you tell them you graduated from UTI, but if you happen to get lucky & they do your pay is going to be Moderator cut: profanity & they're going to start you at the very bottom making 8-10 bucks an hour. No one can survive on that kinda pay in todays world no matter where you live.

Those are just a few of the reasons I quit the automotive business now I only do it as a hobby & side jobs. Flat rate is a joke. I make hella lot more money doing what I'm doing now which is owning my own business & sales work without busting my ass & knuckles for bread crumbs.
