Default Nice, Affordable Apartments ?

It's looking like we're going to be headed to Houston probably sometime around May ( Our school semester ends in May and our current apartment lease is up in April. )

Can someone suggest some nice, safe townhouse or apartment complexes ? Any part of the greater Houston area is fine as we haven't really decided what part of the city we're going to live in. My wife prefers Katy though. We're looking for something 2-3 bedroom below $700/mo.

Any help would be muy apreciada!

I am not sure about the Katy area but the Jones Rd area near the 290 has a lot of affordable apts and is a nice area, good houston commute cause it is near the tollway too. A good place that I used to find my place was Apartment rental in Houston Texas, locators to rent apartments in the Houston area.. I emailed a list of my needs and wants and got a list of really nice places back. They seem to know the area pretty well.

Thanks for the reply, Do you know of a similar site that would help with renting houses other than har.com ?

I don't know if you are going to find anything safe, clean and decent for what you are wanting to pay monthly. We thought we could pay that much and be able to save a lot of money-but most of the areas for that amount of rent are "undesirable". You are likely to wind up in a dump.

If you want something clean and safe you're going to be paying around $1000 or more.

No offense but I find statements like these to be exagerrated in Houston. Bring your poker face, dress less GQ and you'll be fine in most cases, as long as you dont see crack heads, welfare dependents, day laborers/truck, thugs hanging out
