This makes me nervous. I am trying to move from Chicago to Houston.

I have a job here, survived 2 layoffs so far. But I know many people who have been layed off and a lot of places are on hiring freezes.

So it seems as though there is no hope in Houston???

I moved home to Chicago in my Parent's House on February 11, 2009. Wasted my 6 months unemployment on food and rent and utilities.

Yes; - I passed Memphis on my way home. It is on the route between Houston and Chicago. I think I should visit Graceland.

Man, I shouldn't have posted too many crossdressing pics of me! I'm becoming an internet crossdressing fool laughstock! I don't mind making you people laugh if I laugh at myself too! But just give a cute ALPHA MALE ALPHA FEMALE crossdressing FELON a chance at employment, dating, and making friends.

That goth pic of me is in my WORST goth outfit! And I'm not feminine enough in it!

Jobs in Houston can be had, especially if you are a strong candidate. I recently started a hunt to upgrade my position and within 1 month I've had several interviews and two fairly strong offers (one I turned down and one I'm considering). It totally depends on your field, your experience, your expected salary, etc.

My new neighbors just moved in by taking jobs here in Houston as well.

Also, a very good friend of mine is a recruiter, and while there has been a slow down in hiring a little, they are actually doing a fairly brisk business with positions. The biggest impact is that they are seeing a lot more out of town applicants that has made it a little harder to compete.

I think the key here: if you have a middle of the pack resume, it will be a lot tougher to land a position right now since there are more qualified people available, but there are positions available still.

Jesse,
You should've embellished your resume. Don't be totally truthful, it will hurt you, especially in this economy. Certainly, you can't lie about your criminal record and to a great extent your education, but putting more mustard on your accomplishments/experience will go a long way even if you didn't take the long way...know what i mean.. If you're in the IT field, i can tell you a few things.
