My mother was put into a nursing home for rehab and then was approved for Medicaid. She was accepted at TruCare Living Center in Columbus ( about an hour west of HOuston). The home is relatively new and the care was excellent. She came home but will probably return after the first of the year. THis nursing home has medicaid and medicare rooms - they are both nice and new.
Hope this helps.

Tru Care is a schlop outfit. I wouldn't put my schnauzer in the place. I'm surprised you even suggest it.

Did you get help with your problem? I'm in the same situation and I can't afford three months of care. I can afford one month, but I think with Medicaid pending homes, they will let my mom stay there until Medicaid kicks in. I just don't know where to go.

DADS' list is a great starting point. have found input from various sources can be a valuable part of the homework necessary when searching for the right choice. grapevine has the advantage of being a mid-size community where the reputation of such a facility is likely well-known. there are many options of broad-ranging quality in an area the size of houston, so i gratefully listen to offerings from clients, their families, and healthcare professionals. sounds as though you also recognize making this decision is a long and difficult process. thank you, christiep.
