Don't fret. You said you were looking at the medical center. By not moving after all, you're not missing all that much.

The TMC is not a neighborhood. There's nothing but a collection of large apartment complexes, mainly for medical students and others associated with the TMC. There's no nightlife to speak of, nothing of interest, especially if you consider Rice Village and the Montrose too far. Why would you even want to move over there, considering your New Urbanist Wish List? You would do much better with that urban lifestyle you dream of around Rice Village, the Museum District, Montrose, Midtown, Rice Military, the Heights, or even Upper Kirby.

Well at the very least it has rail access into the hip, 'new urbanist' areas when he gets too depressed from seeing his deathly-ill neighbors.

So you would have moved to the TMC and then whined about how there was nothing to do there because all your new friends either had terminal illnesses or sat around their apartments watching TiVo'ed episodes of "Grey's Anatomy" when they weren't too busy studying. Classic.

Umm naww, I could probably drive down to Montrose, uptown, etc. on the weekend. And surprisingly there are alot of UH students that reside at TMC

The only thing "urban" about the southside is the slum/ghetto/dilapidation factor. Otherwise the houses are set up suburban style, in rows with back yards with the usual sprawl.

Westchase isn't urban either. I know the area is trying to pimp it as such, but IMO no communities that hug the beltway are "urban."

NO part of Houston is urban except for Downtown and maybe Galleria center. Houston is just a very large spread out suburb.

I wouldn't even say Galleria.

Downtown, Midtown, and a small part of the medical center is about it IMO.
