We are considering moving from NY to Houstan. As I was doing my research, these three areas caught my eyes Sugarland, Pearland and Friendswood. We have two school going kids 5th and 2nd grader so that's #1 priority. We are Asian-Indian so would I be able to find some company there. We have never been to Houstan or any other part of Texas, so before I start calling the realtors I will appreciate any help i can get here.

Sugar Land has many Asian-Indians. All 3 of those areas are nice though.

You should post in the Houston forum where you will get more replies. Most of the Houston subforumers don't venture into the Texas forum too often. You don't want your thread sitting out here collecting dust.

You need to know where you will be working and consider your commute among the other issues. The communities you have looked at are very nice, but there may be other alternatives based on your commute.

As Poltracker stated, you should consider your commute time when deciding on your place of residence. You might not want to live in any of those communities if you're going to work in The Woodlands, for example.

That being said, I would like to point out that Sugar Land is one of Texas' fastest growing cities for many reasons. It is culturally diverse (with a large Asian-Indian population, as Premont pointed out), has some great schools, has a lot of amenities, and is a great place to raise a family. Sugar Land was ranked as the nation's third best place to live by CNN/Money Magazine and eighth best place in the nation to raise a family by Best Places to Raise Your Family The Top 100 Affordable Communities in the United States. It is located in Ft. Bend County, which is ranked #1 in employment growth in the U.S. According to the U.S. Department of Labor.

You really should spend some time with your family visiting and taking in what each community has to offer.

Good luck with your move!
