I am looking to move to the area and was hoping to get some updated information. I read most of the threads on Deer Park and it seems a great place for a single mom with a child. I am hoping to get some information on the following:

Housing - issue i have is 2 small dogs and 2 cats any recommendations? i would like to stay at or around 800 to rent or under, but if you think a house to rent is better let me know.

Is there an area in Deer Park to avoid?

My friend keeps saying jobs are plentiful in the area, is that true and what is the best resource to find one? local or just use careerbuilder/monster?

I hope I am not being redundant with these questions, if you are a realestate agent that rents houses or condos, let me know.

Lastly, I was wondering about schooling. My son currently goes to school online(homeschooled) is that an option in Texas? if so any recommendations?

If you have any additional information to send that you feel I need to know then please let em know. I am listening. Thanks.

Deer Park is good and safe place to live. It offers many community programs for kids as well as adults. Everything from learning how to use a computer (classes held at the library) to pilates, to special kids activities. It is also dog friendly and has a nice dog park on 13th. Can't comment on jobs because I haven't been looking and you did not say what field you are looking in, but things are starting to get a bit grimmer with layoffs etc. occurring similar to the rest of the country. I wouldn't necessarily count on a house for $800 though there may be a few out there. Though I wouldn't say that any part of Deer Park is "bad", southwest of the intersection of Spencer and Center does not have all the improvements that the rest of the town has (sidewalks, etc.) Homeschooling is allowable in Texas, there are a number of homeschool networking groups available.
