Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo 2009
A link to the lineup: HandStamp: RodeoHouston ropes Solange, Swift, Rucker, Lady Antebellum
And the lineup:
March 3 -- Rascal Flatts
March 4 -- Alan Jackson
March 5 -- Clay Walker
March 6 -- Gladys Knight and Solange
March 7 -- Trace Adkins
March 8 -- Jonas Brothers
March 9 -- Lady Antebellum
March 10 -- Toby Keith
March 11 -- Reba McEntire
March 12 -- Brad Paisley
March 13 -- Clint Black
March 14 -- Josh Turner
March 15 - Go Tejano Day featuring Ramon Ayala and Alacranes Musical
March 16 -- Darius Rucker
March 17 -- Keith Urban
March 18 -- Gary Allan
March 19 -- Pat Green
March 20 -- Taylor Swift
March 21 - Brooks & Dunn
March 22 -- ZZ Top
To me, the lineup is weak this year. Especially Black Heritage Day. They could have picked better performers. I mean Solange? Really? You couldn't get big sister, or try and get some big rap artist (Kanye West, somebody, I mean the Rodeo can do it). Hopefully they pick it up next year.

The Big Rodeo
It will still be a good rodeo this year, overall. I'm not at all worried about the concert lineup. The country artists you've listed are good artists and they, along with ZZ Top, are reason enough to head out to Reliant. And that big barbecue cook-off will get the thing off to a rousing start!

Beyonce has gotten too big for her britches The Rodeo? Not good enough for her.
As for the suggestion of Kanye, I never did understand rap and rodeo. LOL!

Heh, rap and rodeo can work together . I mean, still, they could have picked better performers for Black Heritage Day. Alicia Keys (she came in 2005), Beyonce (maybe she declined and told them to pickup Solange), Kanye, etc. The other performers look fine for people with other tastes in music, but overall to me, the lineup is weak this year.
Oh and about Hannah Montana, the Jonas Brothers took her place. Don't know what's the big deal with them.

Oh those Jonas Brothers are too cute! I'm not familiar with the rodeo thing but I sure as heck wouldn't want to see that jerk Kanye West. Alicia Keys I would pay for... I'm not too into country but I do think I'll go at least one day.

I wouldn't mind seeing Kanye West. He's settled down since his mother died last year. They could have gotten Beyonce and Hubby (Jay-Z). That would have been epic for the Rodeo, but cost $$$.

Kanye at rodeo? Not gonna happen, he is way too controversial for their audience.

Maybe I am from the old school but the old school works for a reason. It has stood the test of time. The promoters say they want to go after the younger group to ensure success. Hmmmm.....every year has been a success by using country artists. Now they are adding fruit cakes like Jones and even crap rap? Rap would keep away a very very large amount of people.
And what the hell is a tejano performer? Sounds Mexican to me. They have their Mexican day, let us have our Cowboy day. Rap will only bring on thugs wearing pants the size of a tent which they can conceal 13 semi automatic weapons inside with their T-shirts the length of a wedding dress.
This whole thing reminds me of something. I just this week asked my brother if he was going to the NY Sportsman show. It is the largest show soley for fisherman, hunters and so on in the world. He told me for the first time since he was a little kid he ain't going. He said they have more and more booths selling things having nothing to do with fishing and hunting. CD booths, work cloths booths, junk jewlery booths, construction sales booths and so on. He said last year it looked more like a fle market.
And guess what? Attendance is down this year. Sounds like the same thing is going to happen to our Rodeo. I was planning on staying at the Lakeside RV park again a mile or so from Reliant for a week and go every day to the rodeo. We changed our mind after seeing this lineup. We will go one day to see Reba and thats it.
Dont get me wrong, there are some good performers in that lineup, I just dont like where the the future of this is going adding non country music. I see Rodeos as a country thing and I want to see country music. If I want to hear rap I will go to the getto.
