How long would it take you to get from Tanglewood or Piney Point Village to the Scarsdale Blvd and Beamer Rd area in Southeast Houston? Typical 7AM-5PM commute.

Tanglewood to Downtown on I-10 is about 20-25 minutes. Going down Allen Parkway about 17. On the freeway, once you get past downtown it shouldn't take that long.

Piney Point to Downtown about 25-35.

The problem is the bottleneck at 610 and then again up about another mile. Coming back might take a little longer depending on what time you leave. I always think the evening commute is far worse than the morning in this city.

How long would it take to get from Downtown to Scarsdale and Beamer? Are there any alternative routes to avoid downtown?

You could go 59 to 45. However, getting to and from 59 is a chore in Uptown. You still have to share the freeway into downtown with everyone as well. But I would say tag on another 15 minutes. That's basically the Beltway and 45 right?

Personally I would take Woodway, which blends into Memorial through the Park, to Allen Parkway to 45 South.

Over all I wouldn't think your commute would be more than 45 minutes on the Freeway and around 35-40 the Allen Parkway route. I would drive it first though to make sure.

EasilyAmused,

Thank you so much for the help. I was a little worried because google said that it could take anywhere from 38 minutes to 1hr 10 minutes. It's always best to ask a local!

Thanks,

Default Piney point / Hedwig to downtown is my commute

Piney Point/Hedwig to downtown is my commute.

After the I-10 expansion my morning commute is just under 20 minutes prior leaving at 7:15 am. After 7:15 I-10 backs up to Shepherd from downtown, and that adds another 5-8 minutes. I normally get off at Washington and take Memorial into DT which minimizes the delay.

Surprisingly, it is faster in the evening. There are no delays from downtown to Blalock.

The Pierce elevated sucks in the morning, so you might consider staying on I-10E to 610 East and jump down to I-45.

Why would you go through downtown? I would take the loop around south to 288 and then the beltway over.

Because 610 between I-10 and 59 is a parking lot.

610 is a nightmare in this part of town.
