Default Best/safest apts between 290 & 45?

My friend and I will be getting an apt this summer, 6 mo lease. We're looking no further west than FM1960 & 290, to FM1960 & 45.

We want something that's new/updated, allows small pets, fitness center, the most square footage for no more than $1200/mo, 2bed/2bath. Biggest concern is being in a safe area. We're both single, early 20's, white females.

Any ideas? TIA
