Stick to driving around Deer Park or South Pasadena, you will be alot happier (and safer). If something happens (rarely) in DP a cop will be there in under 2 min. If you are the northside of ID, you will have to wait for a sherrif which may take a while.

Appreciate the input about the Toll Bridge. Where exactly is it at?
What are the zip codes for Deer Park?

Deer Park is 77536,. South Pasadena is 77505. The toll bridge I refer to is the Beltway 8 bridge from I-10 over to Hwy 225, it is a long and slow way around if you want to avoid it by taking the ferry or the tunnel.

Red Bluff and Genoa Red Bluff
This is about where the jobsite will be. My bosses suggest looking at League City, LaPort, Clear Lake, Friendswood and Taylor Lake Village. Will concentrate on these areas.

Why? LaPorte is not as good (safe or nice) as Deer Park except the neighborhoods right next to Deer Park. The other locations are further away and city services cannot compare to those in Deer Park. Clear Lake has some definite problem areas and is in the City of Houston so if something were to happen you can count on a very long wait for a police officer if needed (if one actually shows up). Definitely harder to get to I-10 from those locations. Oh well.

I don't know their reasoning except for trying to be as close to the job as possible. The trips home to Louisiana will only happen every three weeks so I would be able to put up with the toll bridge. Whenever we head over to Houston we will probably start on the southern sections of Deer Park and work downward. We normally found what we rent just by driving the neighborhoods instead of something that is posted on the internet. The first thing is to locate the neighborhoods to look in.

You're definitely right about HPD in Clear Lake. A monitored home security system is no different vs. a noise-maker. But except for those seedy apartments between 45 and Hwy 3, and the neighborhood behind those apartments on El Dorado, I'm unaware of any 'problem areas' in Clear Lake. I'm pretty sure that junk is in Webster & unincorporated Webster. The rest of Clear Lake is generally professional, upper-middle-class. And, those 'problem areas' are Cadillac compared to dozens of places in the 'inner city.'
I also commute to the Golden Triangle every day and get to I-10 from Clear Lake by taking Bay Area Bvd to 146 and then to the 99 Grand Parkway. Takes 30-35 minutes to I-10, and you're already at exit 800, way outside of Baytown. 99 is an elusive road, mainly because no online maps have it displayed yet and the signage to get to it is very poor.

That's the area I was thinking of. Rest of area is pretty nice.

What is the difference between Clear Lake and Clear Lake Shores? I see these listed different, but do not know which on the boss was referring to.

Clear Lake Shores is a small waterfront town in itself near Kemah/Seabrook.
Clear Lake City (usually referred to as simply Clear Lake) is a master planned community in the SE fringe of the Houston city limits, zip codes 77058, 77059, 77062. Usually the city of Webster is included, zip 77598.
