Exclamation Help me make the most of the two days I have in Houston

My wife is interviewing for a teaching position in the Cypress-Fairbanks school district on the 16th of February. We will be in town on the 16th and 17th only, so our time is short to fit in as much as we can to help with our relocation from Grand Rapids, Michigan.

I have no worries that my little sugar momma will land a job in the greater Houston area, if not on this first interview. She is a special ed teacher, and has great credentials.

I on the other hand have had very little luck with my job search in the last three weeks online and over the phone. I have had a few call backs, and I realize that nothing can replace an in person request for work. But I was hoping that you locals could provide me with some direction for my two days there. I dont care if I use a temp service, I would willing give up a percentage of my pay in exchange for work in the Houston area, just to get out of Michigan. The economy is terrible, the weather sucks, and I have been looking for a reason to leave since I was born 36 years ago. This is the chance to make lemonade out of lemons.

I have a strong background in sales, mostly in automotive parts. I have extensive warehousing background with experiance running a 500k sq ft distribution center. And I also have alot of management experience as a Sales Manager, Operations Manager and General Manger for the last 11 years.

So with that in mind, any direction, tips or just general advice to help me get the most of my 48 hours in Houston would be very much appreicated.

Also, if someone has a lead on a agent who could provide me with Lease Option homes in the Cypress area, that would help. I dont want to buy right away, but after a year lease, if the home was what we wanted, I would like to be able to exercise the lease option.

Thanks in advance

Quentin

you can look on www.har.com for lease properties in Cypress.
Check out the Houston Chronicle job search section. There is a job fair coming up but I am not sure of the date.

Yep, I have been all over HAR.com, but alot of the listings don't offer a Lease Option in them. Thats why I think it best to get a agent on board.

Are there really any areas in the Cypress-Fairbanks School district that I should avoid? And by avoid I mean, run down, white trash, crime riddled neighborhoods? Sorry for my honesty, but no sense lying about it. I have a 13 year old daughter, a 12 year old son, and a 18 year old daughter. The 18 year old is off to college, but the other two will be starting from scratch just like me, no friends or people they know. A good community will help fix that. And based on what I see price wise, I would prefer to stay around 200k. For 200k here, you get a shack, for 200k there, it seems like a whole different story.

Yes, you can find a nice home for $200k in a good neighborhood and sometimes for $150k.

Looks like she has interviews at Katy, Cypress and Channelview right now.

Anyone have any leads on recruiters or temp services in the area that are worth talking to???

Thought I would have better feedback than this. Am I not being specific enough?
