New development in Katy? (Katy Ft-Bend Road and I-10)
For the past week, I've seen construction crews clearing out the trees and brush right across the street of the Wal-mart off of I-10 and Katy-Ft. Bend road. My subdivision is adjacent to the area where they're clearing it out. Does anybody know what's going to go there?

Is it around Franz rd? There's a new apartment complex and retail project starting. Here's the news:
Residential and commercial development is occurring on almost 20 acres along Franz Road at Katy-Fort Bend Road.
Gulf Coast Commercial Group Inc. sold about 15 acres to several developers who have started construction on the property east of the city of Katy limits, said Tom Lile, president of Gulf Coast Commercial Group Inc.
An apartment complex with more than 200 units and two businesses, including an Auto Zone and pharmacy retailer, will be built at the location over the next several months. About five acres remain that will eventually be sold, Lile said.
“We’ve had lots of interest from retail and service users for the remainder of our property,” said Lile, whose company owns 19 acres at the location.
Construction has already started on the apartment complex, Lile said, and work will begin on the Auto Zone building in the next 30 days. The pharmacy retailer purchased 1.8 acres, Lile said, and he expects that construction to begin later this year.

Just brush clearing...
So far all I see are real estate advertisements, like the property owners had the land clear to show it off better. I still recall when that area was still productive farm land, it was not that long ago actually.

It kinda sucks now. With no trees there, the freeway buzz is somewhat more noticeable. Especially at night.
