Well, yes, EEstudent, we are different, because I'm at a different life stage than you. One big difference is that I'm grown up and I don't need to belittle other people's lives and choices.

My family does like book stores, Town Center, and Whole Foods Market. Your "dumping" comment is rude but you aren't a parent so you don't know how lovely it is to have your children happily playing on a Mac computer or creating artwork while you grocery shop, so I'll forgive that jab.

It's true you are at a different stage in life; but I guess I am in denial and rebuke at the notion that many people will lead the suburbia life that you and I have described once they are in that stage of life.

Perhaps I will also be caught in that same monotonous life that exists in SugarLand,I really don't want to, but there seems to be no other options once I have children and a steady life lol.

But I can honestly say that I dont know how wonderful it is to have my kids play on Macs and do artwork while I grocery shop.

Back to the OP... HAVE YOU MADE YOUR DECISION?!? I really want to know what you chose!

Dude, monotonous life happens everywhere. Go move to the inner city where things are ''more interesting'' and then wait awhile until some form of monotony kicks in. Go move to the country and things can get monotonous really fast if you don't know how to entertain yourself.

Deal with it. Get a hobby (or another). Or cop out like many people do and go see your doctor (dealer). That way you can score something to keep your mind off of it.

Mileage means nothing in this town. It's all drive time.

I would count on average a 30 minute drive. It's growing pretty fast, so I don't know if that would count as your "Small Town." Burbs to the NW of Houston are horrible drive, but they have more trees and feel more rural. Kingwood, to the NE side might be more in line what you are looking for.

georgecogirl is on a distinguished road
I think all school systems "fluctuate" a bit. Just focus on the high schools and the middle and elementary tend to follow the trend.
Katy is a nice area but as far as driving into Houston, I have heard it's the worst direction. It is way out for driving all over Houston. We have driven all over Houston for soccer games and Katy is out a bit. But it is pretty. Sugar Land seems to be in more and is just as pretty with strict zoning codes and lots of families.
The First Colony area that feeds to Clements High School is a very pretty area. We are moving there this summer from Pearland.
Pearland is centrally located (outside of Houston) and houses are inexpensive. You may want to investigate the schools (upper) first.

I think that Sugar Land only seems to be more closer in because there is more development along 59 south. For example, on your way from houston you will say Sharpstown, Arena Place, Hilcroft, All those car dealerships, West Airport, US90, the old Unocal building, etc.

CHS '07 BABY HELLZ YEA LOL!!

CHS is becoming more and more deteriorated since the re-zoning of the school;but, I think schools are all dependant on how much effort your child puts in. If your child is willing to learn and exceed than any SAFE and reasonable school would do, but if your child is indolant and apathetic than the school you choose makes no difference.

I agree, things get monotonous everywhere; however, in Sugar Land things get monotonous on an exponential scale! Within 3 days you've seen everything.

But for right now I've been keeping busy with family and friends; which is the only reason why I'm still in Sugar Land.
