5.4 is a month to month rate and I believe it's just the energy rate

Just signed up with Epcot Energy at fixed 8.7 cents for 1 year. No low usage fee. Best price that I could find on a 1-year fixed rate.

see the rate you all are seeing is wrong becouse your provider charges you one thing with like reliant charges 7.7cents kw/h then centerpoint charges 3.308... cents a kw/h and a $9.45 charege every company has the centerpoint charge the just dont tell you about it so ur cents will never be the same

The best time to lock in is never. Keep following natural gas prices down, down, down... and when it hits under $2.00/mcf Henry Hub, wait and see it go down some more.

Is the still the case? I need to renew my rate this July, but I can lock in now with Tri-eagle for a 12, 24, or 36 month. I'd be open to any feedback on companies, rates, or when the best time and length to lock in on rates.

Looking at this site the projections are for rates.

Short-Term Energy Outlook - U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA)

Price Summary 2011 2012 2013 projected 2014 projected
Natural Gas(dollars per thousand cubic feet) 11.03 10.66 10.95 12.05
Electricity (cents per kilowatthour) 11.72 11.88 12.19 12.47

I locked in to $.105 yesterday for 12 months. That was for 2000kWh though, which I will never use. The 1000 kWh average cost worked out to about $.109.

I received 3 different price quotes in the same day from the same company for the same plan. There's a lot of shenanigans in deregulated electricity.
