I went to the Chase bank downtown location on Friday (that I have gone into countless times) but for the first time paid close attention to the details of it's architectural beauty. It's quite magnificent and is the former Gulf Building. So how many others are being preserved in grandeur while being used? As a lifelong Houstonian, what are other historicals that I need to make the time to see in Houston or the greater Houston area?

I found this on Wikipedia while trying to locate some photos of the inside.

The JPMorgan Chase Building, formerly the Gulf Building, is in Downtown Houston, Texas, United States. It is one of the preeminent Art Deco skyscrapers in the southern United States. Completed in 1929 it remained the tallest building in Houston until 1963, when the Exxon Building surpassed it in height.

photos of the exterior (inside banking lobby is the height of the entrance shown in photo below).

St. Paul's United Methodist Church

I love the Gothic architecture, the bells, and the stained glass.

Can't say it's "historic" but the Bank of America building downtown has beautiful architecture both inside and out.

The Esperson Buildings. I like one website's description of them as his & her skyscrapers.
